Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial roots that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bones. The teeth attached to the implants are very natural looking and work to enhance or restore a patient’s smile and function. They are a growing treatment option for replacing missing teeth, and can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or as an alternative to dentures. Used for:

  • Replacing one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
  • Restoring chewing, speech and digestive function.
  • Restoring a confident smile
  • Restoring or enhancing facial issues
  • Supporting bridges or dentures, making them more secure and comfortable.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Restores your smile with a greatly improved appearance.
  • Dental implants offer numerous benefits over dentures.
  • Comfortable – they act as any normal, regular tooth would.
  • Improves your speech as they work better than dentures that may slip.
  • Convenience – no need to remove implants as you would with dentures.
  • Easier to eat and chew foods than regular dentures.

Dental Implant Process

The implant process requires a number of visits over several months. Radiographs (X-rays) are taken and molds are made of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gingival (gum) tissue and spacing available for the implant. The implant is surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself into the bone.

After the integration period, an abutment and crown are attached to the implant, providing excellent stability, comfort and esthetics to the patient. We will provide care instructions after your treatment is completed. Good oral hygiene and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new implant. Dental implants are very strong, stable and durable, and will last many years, but on occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.
